Key takeaways

  1. 1Operators typically average a 10–20% bonus-to-NGR ratio overall, with 70% of budgets directed to players exceeding a 20% ratio.
  2. 2Future Anthem advises moving from upfront bonuses like "Stake 10, get 10" to post-outcome rewards triggered by real-time events.
  3. 3Bloomreach's platform acts as air traffic control, filtering algorithm-generated player signals through compliance and business logic.

Future Anthem has outlined its AI personalization architecture and bonus efficiency metrics following a joint presentation with Bloomreach at SBC Summit Lisbon 2026. The real-time AI platform provider detailed how operators can transition from scheduled campaigns to event-led marketing architectures.

Future Anthem advocates replacing upfront guaranteed promotional mechanics, such as a “Stake 10, get 10” offer, with real-time mechanics that reward a player after a specific outcome, such as replacing losses with free spins.

Chief Data & Product Officer Chris Conroy stated that the typical operator bonus-to-NGR ratio currently runs at 10–20% overall. However, at the individual player level, around 70% of the bonus budget goes to players whose bonus-to-NGR ratio is above 20%. Conroy noted that most inefficiency stems from upfront promotional promises, which operators can mitigate by shifting to post-outcome rewards.

The provider noted that backend data architecture remains a primary obstacle for gambling operators. A typical setup includes separate sportsbooks and casinos from different suppliers, alongside 20 direct integrations to game suppliers and additional aggregators. This creates an agglomeration of integrations that fragments data, often resulting in siloed communication where a single player receives separate sports and casino emails within 30 seconds of each other.

Event-led triggers and volume control

Future Anthem’s system processes real-time data inputs to identify player moments, managing a typical Saturday sportsbook load of around 100,000 unique events that change every second. Instead of dictating bonuses through a campaign that runs on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the technology uses scheduled activities and in-game events as triggers.

To manage the volume of communications each player receives, the integration utilizes Bloomreach’s platform as air traffic control. Algorithms surface every relevant opportunity, while Bloomreach builds layers of compliance and business logic in the same place the journey is orchestrated.

“What you’re saying is, ‘This is a relevant recommendation for this player at this time,’ but you’ve got some different controls that are going to decide whether they actually get it or not,” Conroy said.

Bloomreach manages the frequency of communication at the individual player level, dictating that a player who plays every day should have a higher propensity to receive messaging than one who plays once a month.

For measurement, Future Anthem advises operators to evaluate the combined overall effect of all personalization activity against a control group, noting that isolating individual initiatives becomes increasingly difficult at scale.
